Cultural Center / Mosque opened

After 30,000 hours of work on its own and a few solemn greetings, the time had come: The Turkish cultural center inclusive mosque in the former Wolfhager railway station was handed over to its new destination.

Several guests of honour cut the red ribbon, symbolically clearing the way for the peaceful practice of the Islamic religion. In addition, the cultural center also offers meeting and seminar rooms, which are to be made available to Wolfhager clubs free of charge.

The chairman of the Turkish cultural association Niyazi Karahan, Mayor Schaake, Dean Dr. Gerlach, the chairwoman of the Evangelical Church Executive Officer Ursula Muth and other guests of honour pointed out in their words of greeting the enormous importance of religious freedom and Today's Day of Freedom of the Press. This house is intended to serve a peaceful exercise of religion and to become a meeting place for different cultures. Whether Muslims, Jews or Christians – here, everyone should come together peacefully to exchange free from spying or other reprisals, according to the speakers "core statements.

The required use of the disabled toilet for rail passengers has also been implemented in an exemplary manner. It is now easily accessible from the outside.

Another nice thing: On the upper floor, meeting/seminar rooms were implemented, which, according to Mr. Karahan, can be used free of charge by Wolfhager clubs.

After the official opening, there was not only a tour of the mosque and cultural center, but also all sorts of treats of Turkish cuisine. All weekend, every wolf hager can visit the centre as part of an "open day" – all citizens are welcome.
